I pray that ________ keeps a firm grip on Your promises, Lord, that can keep her (him) going. You always keep Your Word. Challenge her (him) to see how inventive she (he) can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshipping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big day approaching.
Lord, I claim this promise for _____: “I will restore to you what has been stolen from you.”
When ________’s foot is slipping, let your love, O Lord, support her/him. When anxiety is great within her/him, let your comfort bring joy to her/his soul.
Father, would you reveal Yourself clearly to _______, touch her (him) and with your hand on her (him) lift her (him) up, removing her (his) fears.
Father, this is my prayer for ________: that her/his love will flourish and that she/he will not only love much but well. Teach her/him to love appropriately. To use her/his head and test her/his feelings so that her/his love is sincere and intelligent, not sentimental gush. To live a lover’s life, circumspect and exemplary, a life Jesus will be proud of: bountiful in fruits from the soul, making Jesus Christ attractive to all, getting everyone involved in the glory and praise of God.
I pray that _______’s soul will be out in the open. With the bright light of Christ making her (his) way plain. Help her (him) to stumble no more and get on with it. The good, the right, the true – these are the actions appropriate for living in the light. Continue to help her (him) figure out what will please Christ and then do it.
Lord, show _______ that in trusting You, she/he can be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world she/he will continue to experience difficulties. But help her/him to take heart in the truth that You’ve conquered the world.
Lord, please develop this truth in _______: Let her/him shout her/his praise to you even when she’s/he’s hemmed in with troubles, because of knowing how troubles can develop passionate patience in her/him, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping her/him alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, she/he will never be left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary, ________ won’t be able to round up enough containers to hold everything You generously pour into her/his life through the Holy Spirit!
Lord, let this admission to You come easily and often to ________’s heart: ‘Scrub away my guilt, soak out my sins in your laundry. I know how bad I’ve been; my sins are staring me down…what you’re after is truth from the inside out. Enter me, then; conceive a new, true life.’
Lord, you have put Your Word into ________. Protect your Word from being choked out of her/his life because of the cares of this world – the stress of daily living , the little worries that crowd out the power and peace that your Word promises. Help ________ to fully abandon herself/himself to you as your Word teaches.
